PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana is a central government scheme launched by Pradhan Mantri (PM) Narendra Modi in the year 2019. This scheme was announced by Union Minister Piyush Goyal in the 2019 Budget session, and it will cost around 75,000 crore per year. It is completely a farmer welfare scheme, and its main priorities are to provide financial assistance to the small and marginal farmers of India. Under this scheme, eligible farmers will get Rs. 6,000 per year. The money will be sent in three installments, which means that in one installment, the farmer will get 2000 rupees and the beneficiaries will get the amount directly in their bank accounts.
The PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme provides financial assistance to small farmers in India. This will help them meet their family financial needs and improve the quality of the crops they grow. The PM Kisan Nidhi scheme benefited around 12 crore people during the initial days when the scheme was launched. The eligible farmer has to register to get the benefit of the PM Kisan scheme. And after registration, the eligible farmer will be identified and approved by the central government. Small and marginal farmers who have up to 2 hectares of land are eligible for this scheme. And the farmers who pay taxes or are civil servants with high incomes can’t apply for this scheme.
The main objective of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana scheme was to double the income of the farmers by 2022 and to provide financial assistance to the small farmers. The government has already released 17 installments of the PM Kisan scheme. The 17th installment was signed by PM Modi on June 10, 2024, and this will benefit around 9.3 crore eligible farmers.
Scheme Smilar to PM Kisan Samman Nidhi
Many schemes similar to those of PM Kishan are being run by the state government in India. A few are listed below.
1. Rythu Bandhu Scheme: This scheme was launched by the Telegana government in May 2018. Under this scheme, eligible farmers will get 10000 per year, and this will cost around 12000 crore. A farmer with up to 51 acres of agricultural land or 19 acres of dry land can apply for this scheme. The financial assistance will be sent directly to the bank accounts of beneficiaries in two installments. This will benefit around 60 lakh farmers.
2 Annadatha Sukhibhava. This scheme was started by the Andhra Pradesh government in February 2019. Under this scheme, the beneficiaries of PM Kishan will get 9000, and non-beneficiaries will get 15000 per year. This scheme will cost around 5,000 crore. There are no eligibility criteria for this scheme; any farmer, small or large, can apply. This will benefit around 70 lakh farmers.
3. KALIA scheme This scheme was started by the Odisha government in January 2019. Under this scheme, eligible farmers will get 4000 over five seasons, and this will cost around 4000 crore. This scheme is for small and marginal farmers; farmers with up to 2 hectares of land can apply. Approximately 60 lakh farmers benefit from this scheme.

- The PM Kisan Nidhi scheme is for small and marginal farmers.

- Visit the PM Kishan official website: pmkisan.gov.in.

- Select Rural Farmer Registration or Urban Farmer Registration.

- Then search and click on the “Know Your Status” option on the homepage.

- Click on the option “eKYC” on the homepage.
- A new page is open, which is www.pmkisan.gov.in/aadharekyc.aspx.
- Then enter your Aadhaar number and click on search.
- After the above step, you will be asked for your Aadhar registered mobile number. Please enter your Aadhar registered mobile number.
- Then enter the OTP that you will receive in your mobile number and click on submit.
- A successful message will be displayed on the screen, “EKYC has been done successfully.”
