And as of 2019, there are 1711216 registered voters in the parliamentary constituency. H. D. Kumaraswamy of the Janata Dal (Secular) is the current MP for the constituency. In the 2024 Indian General Election H. D. Kumaraswamy won the Lok Sabha seat by defeating Venkataramane Gowda of the Indian National Congress (INC).
